WD-40 Specialist Rust Remover Soak dissolves rust quickly without harming surrounding parts, trim, gaskets or paint. It restores surfaces to bare metal without scraping, chipping or scrubbing. For light rust, leave parts in 1-3 hours and for heavy rust, leave parts in overnight. This non-toxic and biodegradable formula is effective on small or large items that can be soaked. Used to evaluate the rust removing capabilities of a test fluid. Rusty steel panels (panels that have been rusted by being exposed to humidity and the salt spray chamber) are partially dipped in rust removing fluid. As shown in the images to the right, WD-40 Specialist Rust Remover Soak removes tough rust and restores the soaked section of the steel panel back to bare metal.

The tools were severely rusted so I let them soak in the solution for 24-hours. After the soak, all of the rust was gone! Very good, but it leaves a dark coating on the metals. I think this is ok since the tools I soaked are still rust free. I used this on my small tools only. For larger tools, such as hand saws, brush clippers, you will need to use a larger container and will need to use a lot more of the solution. For the larger tools I used naval jelly. The WD40 rust remover works great for hassle free rust remover for my small tools.
